katakuttttt

Last sept. 4, we did an episode for Bakekang and I bet you wouldn’t wonder why we had “Panget” as title of the episode. I had the chance to interview and meet for the first time in my buzylicious life, the amazing Ms. Cecille Baun, her daughter in law, Leila Baun and Mr. Adrian Batuctoy. These are the people responsible for all the scare that creepy creatures on tv and film (local and international) gave us. Prosthetic artists....hmm? mr. batuctoy is the man (ur the man!) who made the costumes and did the make up of all the villains in sugo and captain barbell…of gma 7 ofcourse…unfortunately…I don’t have a picture of him and his creations (sigh) anyways this is tita cecil and Leila and…me!!! Tita Cecil has been all over showbusiness since the late 60 s…I remember seeing her house, laboratory, rather (that s what she calls it) for the first time, when I was still in elementary on a show called Magandang Gabi Bayan (muhuwahahaha) I never imagined that I would actually have the chance of going there myself (I loooove this job soooo mucchhh) ung nasa left side, ginamit sa majika

I can still recall how creepy it was to see all the facials masks/casks? Of tv personalities, some of it dating back from 70s. You wouldnt even have to ask for their names because you can immediately recognize the familiar looking heads hanging on the walls of tita cecil’s laboratory. You will see the facial masks of ate vi, celia Rodriguez, rosa rosal and so on and so forth…amazingly, tito joey’s is also there….

they are like immortalized versions of tv stars, though they only lack the body, eyes, they have ears but they definitely cant hear you, their faces are pale and they have mouth but they cant talk. if they have the ability to do so---they’d probably be talking much of how boring it is to just to be hung there for years, some of them would probably be boasting on how famous they’ve been or how many awards they had, others would probably be bragging on how annoyingly youthful they still are, with no lines nor color on their faces.

It was one heck of a crazy interview. I was there to make everything appear on tv that being a prosthetic artist is a challenging yet fulfilling job, that it was exciting because of all the tv and film artists they’ve worked with. But all I knew was, in nearly a day of doing the shoot, that prosthetic artistry is one hell of a scary and weird money-making-hobby.

mga jowa ko

Tita Cecille did not appear to me as if she was taking it as a job, she was enjoying it so much and it was all a hobby to her to which she gets payed so much. It was really weird to me, that while doing the interview, she was transforming our talent from an ordinary girl to a creepy bat girl and it never had a hard time doing two things at the same time---walang ka effort effort as in. kaloka talaga. And by the time she’s done---walahhhh eto na ang finish product---

Goldilocks sa bahay ni Tita Cecille
