a star online i couldn't refrain myself from doing a write up/comment on this guy named Arnel Pineda. you might be too familiar with him by now because of the tv guestings and appearances that he had recently, because he's just been announced as the new front man of the legendary band, the journey hearing the story that i was tasked to do, did not bring much excitement and enthusiasm. i was to do a "pinoy star online" obviously about Filipinos who found fame and opportunity through the net. one of them is arnel pineda whom i only heard about during the previous night's episode of 24 Oras. he had his press con, announcing that he's been accepted as the journey's new vocalist. automatically, i had to research about this guy and found my self looking for him on youtube. and when i heard him sing, i was awed. he was a monster! ika nga sa lengwahe namen, halimaw! halimaw sa kantahan! i couldn't believe my eyes on what i was hearing. it was a brown guy with a white-rocker-guy's voice. i was stunned. arnel's performance on an uploaded video on youtube was one, i think, of the most amazing performances i ever saw. it wasn't just because he was singing with an unusual pinoy sounding rockstar voice, but because it was good and he was a Filipino. i thought immediatley that we had something in common and that made an immediate admiration. i was also inspired by his life story, this guy, who has probably been offered millions of pesos or dollars maybe, have gone through unimaginable hardships. he lost his parents at an early age, he and his two brothers had to live with their relatives but they were treated like animals. they thought that living on the street was a more preferrable choice, they survived like beggars. but that did not stop from fulfilling his dreams. he was able to live a life out odf freedom and that amazed me more. he had been part of many local bands, but spent most of his singing career in hong kong where he was payed with dollars. and through some uploaded music videos on you tube, he has found his fate the zoo (his local band) now, i guess he'd already left for the u.s. to do his recording, but i still listen to his music every time i log on the net, watch his music videos; of cover songs from different famous foreign bands. and i am personally looking forward to his album, now with the band, the journey. way to go arnel... now we have other pinoy performers to admire, other than allan pineda, nicole, billy and mutya. shagged on 2/17/2008 11:34:00 PM Comments: Post a Comment
