buhay teatro sining lahi polyrepertoty i spent three of the most exciting years in my college life with Sining Lahi Polyrepertory, The Student Theater Group of my alma mater. Most of the boldness i have right now are results of the rigid training that we had. I may not be performing on stage anymore, i may not be facing a hundred fold of audience waiting for my punchlines and stammers, but all the memories of it; the applause, the grandeur, relationships, friends and all the learning experience shall forever be treasured within me. Here are a few photos that I've gathered from a "ka-teatro's" website. musical...i'm too young to be forgetting anything, but the title of this play is one among my long list of forgotten stuff. i remember though that this is a musical play, we had 15 performances. it's a period play that sets during the american occupation... i remeber a few phrase from the songs included in the ensemble... "ano ang nangyari nabasag ang banga..." at "oh jonny oh johnny..." hehe asan aku? ayun yung naka blue... luna isang romansang aswang... an award winning piece from Palanca, it tells the story of a modern romeo and juliet you-and-me-against-the-world-thingy, just that it happened in a very Filipino setting. and to make it obviously Filipino, we have a young vulnerable man who falls inlove with a probinsyana. little did he know that this girl and her family are all aswang...in the end, because of a love that is beyond our fathom, he chooses to be an aswang and becomes one with the love of his life...crazy isn't? this, i guess, is one of craziest stage play i've ever been into and it is at par, the most succesfull one i've been with. this is in regards with the number of audience, the number of times they come back to see the play and be entertained, and the decibels of the audience's shouts whenever we surprise them with eerie sounds and funny lines (haha parang may audio meter ako no?). we used to sing this song at the end of every play...it is a song that tells us that the theater, is our world and just our lives, we will continue to fight for it and nourish it. and after every end is another beginning...
